SUNDAY VENUE: Pop Brixton

The venue we are having our party is a wonderful high ceiling hall, with wooden floor, great sound system, bar, a perfect space for a relaxed Sunday afternoon social amidst an excellent food market of diverse independent world cuisines.

‘Pop Brixton is home to 55 independent businesses including restaurants, retailers, makers, street food traders, designers, digital start-ups, a community barbershop, a youth radio station and a number of social enterprises.

We aren’t here to give high street brands another storefront. All our members are independents, most come from Brixton and Lambeth and many of them are start-ups entering their first permanent premises.

We’re here to support the little guys with the big ideas.’

Plenty of great reviews on google and also more information about the venue/community/choice of food retailers: https://www.popbrixton.org/

I LIKE IT LIKE THAT vol.20 commemorates our 20th party edition since our inception in June 2014 (yes we are still young :-). We are celebrating 20 parties, 32 talented djs (21 international, 11 UK), 27 beautiful performance teams and teachers, many passionate musicians and above all YOU who have been supporting us and enjoying salsa music with us.

For our anniversary we are bringing you a killer lineup of DJs: international and national maestros who have marked the salsa scene for many decades now and still spreading their unique musical touch across the world:

*** Dj Nilson Diaz, Toronto, Canada*** who initiated I LIKE IT LIKE THAT, being the first invited dj who established and persuaded us that this musical concept is a keeper and the beginning of many amazing times ahead :-) it is our honour to have him back to share his in-depth knowledge, talent and passion.

***Dj Mulato, Paris France*** a renowned Dj, great music/vinyl collector and one of the first organisers of vinyl-only parties in Europe, SAL-SOUNDS 70’s, a high-quality well-established event of awesome music and great atmosphere that cannot be missed when you are visiting Paris! He will for sure bring a unique feel and stun us with his music selection.

***Dj Julian the Duke, UK/Colombia*** what can we say!!!…we are deeply honoured and uniquely privileged to have one of the most talented and forefathers of salsa Djs in the UK to play for the first time at I LIKE IT LIKE THAT on VINYL! Although starting his career as a DJ on vinyl decades ago it has been many years since we heard his talent spinning on records, it will be a unique treat!

We believe this DJ lineup will keep you asking for more so we extended the time you can enjoy them for! Apart from our big party on the Saturday night, 17th of March, on our beloved regular club, in Holborn, Central London (Saw Swee Hock Centre), we are adding a Sunday afternoon party, on the 18th of March, where the dj maestros will awe us even more with a 4-hour mano-a-mano dj set -3 songs each, interchanging, instead of usual 45 minute sets by each DJ; a great buzzing concept where djs feed off each other and create a unique musical journey for dancers. It will take place in a special venue of great character and atmosphere in the middle of the beautiful market In Brixton, Pop Brixton! We fell in love with the place, only 3 minutes walk from the station, in the lively heart of Brixton, and we believe you will too :-)

Pop Brixton is a community project, event venue and the home of a community of independent retailers, restaurants, street food startups and social enterprises. "Really cool gathering space for good food, beers, and people" and of course quality music with I LIKE IT LIKE THAT hehehe ;-)

We will also feature a salsa class at the start of each party, (included in the price), by talented guest performers and teachers (artist information coming soon); a fun, informative warm up class for the party to come!

Our beloved conguero Alvaro will feature throughout and maintain the punching rhythm with his congas, bongos and campana in both parties.

Looking forward to celebrating salsa with you!

More on the djs:

Dj Mulato

Es El Sonido Que Dicta La Ley

A native of Guadeloupe " West Indies " by my mother, I like the Afro-Caribbean music, kompas, zouk, salsa..Have been a long-time collector of vinyl 33t - 45t - Cds, making it a big part of my life as a Dj. One aspiration: how to live and share my passion with others.

SAL'SOUNDS 70'S was born in 2008 with Ben-J aka Benjamin. We developed a concept, an ideology, a sensitivity, a positive energy: our passion to be shared with the dancers with the main rule that it needs to convey joy.

Meetings, opportunities, collaborate with DJs, dancers, organizers: build me.

All these wonderful people have sent me this need to play the ITS.

Without all these people who love music, Salsa and who follow me in all my adventures, Dj MULATO SAL'SOUNDS 70's would not be.
